Possibility \#4
Possibility #4¶
When ṃ is followed by e, it can become ññ
When ṃ is followed by h, it can become ñ
e.g. taṃ + eva > taññeva
ayaṃ + hi > ayañhi
In Kaccāyana this is called (32) ehe ñaṃ.
| taṃ | eva | taññeva | just that |
| ahaṃ | eva | ahaññeva | just I |
| paccattaṃ | eva | paccattaññeva | just personally |
| ayaṃ | hi | ayañhi | this indeed |
| evaṃ | hi | evañhi | thus indeed |
| kiṃ | hi | kiñhi | what indeed? |
Counter-examples:
evaṃ etaṃ > evaṃ etaṃ
evaṃ hoti > evaṃ hoti
